 Testimonials:

"Jeremy, just a thank you for such an unbelievable, articulate class. Even through sleep, my brain hasn't stopped for a second attempting to digest all that you taught. I have a whole new perspective, and approach with yidaki now, and for the first time in many a year, have this motivation to push further with what you showed. Thank you for your energy, your patience, and I won't let you down. Have a safe flight, and until the next class, take care brother. All the best." Zed, England.

"I found in Switzerland not only a genius player and teacher for yidaki, but also a man with a great charisma and the wisdom of three old medicine men, loving the nature and with his work and calling being the bridge between the past and the future and a bridge between the people – bringing them together with your wonderful music. I am very impressed of what you are doing and your attitude." Gisela, Germany.

"It is thanks to you, that I left the workshop totally inspired. This inspiration is still alive and it let me practice as often as it is possible. It was really refreshing that you did a lot of exercises with us - exercises that we somehow could manage. Your workshop was brilliant and it was a pleasure to have met you. Ka Pai and hopefully till next year. Best wishes." Hajo, Germany.

"Jeremy, I would like to say a big thank you once more for sharing your knowledge and precious lifetime with us. You’re a tremendous teacher with a heart to match that! The ember that was ignited in Belgium has become a bushfire in the Netherlands…" Gino, Belgium.

"Big Thanks Jeremy! As the last time I had the chance to meet you, it had a profound impact on my being. You have enriched me with many new tools for mass peace and love. Loved the yidaki courses, loved the n'goni and maybe to some surprise, have really found something in the porotiti and taonga pūoro in general. As the bird who needed his freedom, others have been made specifically for their 'owners' to set love free. Thanks again Jeremy! What a blessing! Take good care of yourself bro and hope to see you soon when the time comes around again!" Bennoit, USA.

"So super amped right now, your class always leaves me on a high!!!" Lucie, Aotearoa.

"Hi and thanks for an amazing afternoon! Just what I needed and I will be practising awaiting your return for the next n'goni day!" Sarah, Aotearoa.

"I think you're a kind of person that can change the world... Thanks again!" Allesandro, Italy.

"Fantastic! .. I may have even got those rhythms up to speed. Hey Jeremy, great day, well organised, good pace, and plenty to go home with.. very enjoyable.. My n'goni isn't an ornament anymore.." Ian, Aotearoa.

"London workshop on May 27th was truly amazing, you managed to keep my attention the whole day :) thank you for your dedication, knowledge and most important, the kindness for sharing it, you are truly a amazing person Jeremy :) and thats understated !!! now that I have your tutorial cd, I will be practising all the steps, until we meet next time. Take care my brother." David, Belgium.

"Hi Jeremy, short feedback to the workshop: It was the 3rd time for me in your workshop and it was not just a refresher, there were many new things for me to catch. I'd liked to have a 30min lesson with you as we had in the workshop in Stein am Rhein (2010), but maybe this time we were a little bit too much people for that. However, I truly thank you for all the energy you put in teaching/workshops. For me, practicing Yidaki has become joyful, every time. Your workshops have supported me strongly with that, thanks!" Beni, Switzerland.

"We finally got to experience Jeremy's class in the states!!! Ok... only a one day class. I cannot recommend him enough! Great teaching style." Warner, USA.

“I can say without any hesitation that you are the best Yidaki/Didgeridoo teacher I have had the good fortune to learn from and your workshop was high excellence.” Colin Goring, England.

Biography: New Zealand born multi-instrumentalist works as a musician, composer, musical instrument maker and teacher of music. He specialises in world musical instruments such as yidaki, n'goni, taonga poro, djembe and cajón. He values the natural environment, human potential, communication, uniqueness, innovation, learning and positive change. These values are evident in all he does.

For the past 13 years Jeremy has been teaching and performing internationally at concerts, festivals, museums, ethnomusicology schools and various other events. He often collaborates with animation and video artists for live performances. Jeremy has performed and delivered workshops throughout Europe, the UK, Iceland, Japan, Australia and the Pacific. He believes that music is the master language that we all share and has chosen it as the vehicle for his values.

Jeremy Cloake has an interesting and non-typical approach to music. His interests are within the process of matching multiple world musical instruments with specific intentions and composition structures congruent with his values. All of the instruments he chooses to play have what he refers to as integrity within their sounds: specific sound qualities that are unique in the way they can positively affect the listener.

He has studied Yolngu yidaki playing techniques with master yidaki players in Arnhemland for four years. He is regarded as one of the most skilled contemporary yidaki players in the world and is well known internationally as a performer and teacher of yidaki.

Since 1997, Jeremy has studied west African percussion under the direction of several west African griots. He has been involved as a percussionist for west African concerts and workshops in New Zealand since 1999. Through this study he has become a respected percussionist, n'goni player and teacher.

Jeremy is often involved in international recording projects as a musician, composer and sound engineer. He has extensive experience in recording, mixing and mastering obscure world instruments and often collaborates with other musicians for recordings. He has produced several of his own cds, Organic Dance Didjeridu in 1999, Transformation in 2004 and his latest recording, a tuition cd called Balanda Yidaki Dhukarr released in July 2008.

More recently Jeremy has mixed and mastered several world music recordings and has helped produce educational shows for the BBC learning zone shows 'art music and dance around the world.'

In addition to this, Jeremy is one of the finest carvers of taonga pūoro and is currently working on a scholarship to carve for marae and institutions in Aotearoa

What a wonderful evening! We took a trip back to Arnhem Land that was well received as the Randy Randin showed us around the arts center he managed and talked to us about the amazing aboriginals he came to know and love. Fun concert with accompaniment of nice rhythms and sounds  by  Ray. Food was great- even down to the last meal to arrive... smoked salmon- YUM!

Randin Graves and Ray Conseur

January 10 2015 4:59-9:59

Didgeridoo Workshop:- For players with at least some playing experience. Let's get rhythmic. Randin will get us all rocking out together, starting with some basic rhythm techniques and seeing where the flow takes us. This could include some complicated polyrhythm or odd time signatures, or perhaps Yolngu-style technique he learned while living in Arnhem Land.

Performance:  Randin's crossing over into "One Man Show" territory, telling the story of his journey with the didgeridoo, from United States suburbs to remote northern Australia and back again, playing appropriate pieces along the way. Instead of just sitting on stage and playing music, he puts on a more conversational event, fooling people into learning a few things while entertaining them. So come hear some didj music and learn a bit about where the instrument comes from and how it affected one white dude from San Diego.

Estimated times- our events are fluid but this is what we have in mind: Technique Workshop from 5:00 - 6:30 followed by potluck dinner and social time with group playing from 6:30 - 8:00 with a performance by Randin Graves at 8:00pm

As this is a residential area we need a firm stop time of 10:00pm outdoors.

Potluck as usual: We are known for having unusually good foods unlike most potlucks. Please prepare a delicious special dish to share.

Cost: our events are always free but we ask that you donate as you can so they can afford to travel to us and want to return. Your donations are all the compensation they recieve. Please consider giving $20 or more as you can.

Don't forget your chairs and blankets for amazing outdoor performance.

The host has requested that this event is adults only.

CONCERT & POTLUCK & WORKSHOP & DIDGE JAM

Our only Didgeridoo Concert of 2014

Dont miss it!

Our first FRIDAY concert!

Gather for  Pot Luck Dinner 5:30

Time to set up camp (overnight camping is always fun) and gather for a pot luck dinner. Bring your specialty- our foods tend to be unusually good- not the usual chips and such! We have a fire pit for barbecuing, A propane gas grill, microwave, stove, and oven along with refrigerator to store in so you can prep your Pot Luck meal.

Concert  at about 7:30

Pam will join us coming from Washington to demonstrate own unique style of playing this most unusual of instruments weaving , voice, diaphragm, intricate Middle Eastern and Eastern European rhythms with urban beats. What comes out of it are stories of modern magic and ancient mysticism, poetry, worlds that are within and without all mixed with a little light, a little dark and often with a touch of humor. Pam will also have copies of her latest album available for purchase. The concert is free and supported by your direct donations to the artist. We need to make it worthwhile for these great artists to travel to us! Please help out as you can with a $20.00+ donation as you can. Pamela make her living from the donations.

Workshop evolving into Jam around the fire about 8:30

Perfect for BEGINNERS through EXPERT

Techniques at all levels - breaking down techniques into doable accomplishments during practice. This will likely cover parallel playing as well or the art of layering sounds.Building rhythms and composition - how rhythms can be built into phrases to form a cohesive song. Practice techniques - what would be some good habits while the player sits down to practice. This would probably cover connecting with the instrument in a way to get a deeper and richer experience while playing.  We will run it almost like a master class where people can let me know where they are in their playing, where they would like to be so I have a sense of what they would like to accomplish. So far it's been very well received and pretty successful.  This should naturally flow into a Jam!

Workshop at 2:30

1. Techniques at all levels - breaking down techniques into doable accomplishments during practice. This will likely cover parallel playing as well or the art of layering sounds.

2. Building rhythms and composition - how rhythms can be built into phrases to form a cohesive song.

This class is recommended beginners through expert

Fee: $20.00+ donation suggested

Using the Ancient Didgeridoo, Traditional Chants and Body work, Jeremy can take people deep into the realms of the Dreamtime.

Jeremy runs both 2hr and 4 hr workshops and also offers 1 1/2 hr sessions for individuals. Jeremy talks and offers an insight into the traditional healing practices of the Far Northern Queensland Aboriginal people. The vibration of the didgeridoo on the body accompanied by the chants is something that has been practiced in the rainforest for in excess of 5000yrs.

In addition to the Healing Jeremy talks about the connection to Ancestral Spirits and the Animals and how they play such a strong role in the shaping of our lives.

Jeremy's traditional healings are designed to support the movement of negative stored energy that we as humans hold onto. The Didgeridoo's vibration enters the body shaking our cells and breaking through the tissues where we store such energy, then with traditional chants these energies are moved from our bodies into the Spirit World where they can be healed.

Jeremy Donovan
Descends from both the Kuku Yalanji tribe of Far Northern Queensland and the Gumbaynngirr tribe of Northern New South Wales, but represents Australian Aboriginal Culture as a whole.

Jeremy is recognised around the world as one of Australia's Finest Aboriginal performers. Jeremy shares his life and personal stories through music, art, dance and healing with thousands of people each year from all corners of the world.

Jeremy's passion for his culture is infectious, he mesmerises his audience with his masterful Didgeridoo playing.

"I teach people through my music, dance, stories and art. There is nothing in this world that gives me greater pleasure as sharing my peoples history with people who come from lands far and wide."

Jeremy is quickly becoming recognised as one of the Australia's fastest growing young Aboriginal Artists, with four sell out solo exhibitions in Australia and the USA and artwork being displayed throughout the world, becoming a very collectable artist.

"I love my culture, i am very proud of where I come from. When I perform I want people to feel my pride. When i share my stories I want people to be touched. I want my songs and the Didgeridoo to resonate through there entire body. When I play didgeridoo, when I sing, when I dance, when I paint, I want people to be able come on a journey with me. I want people to know my life and my incredible culture."
